How to Reset XF?

With the impressive changes coming with Xenforo 2.3 (especially the SEO & loading speed improvements)...I was wondering if it's possible to reset XF back to its original virgin install state (or close to it)?

I do have some modifications I added in the extra.less template (just cosmetic stuff)...and do have some additional skins I put together (again just cosmetic stuff).

The reason I ask is...over the years I've had some 3rd-party folks work on my site trying to improve the loading speed of pages...maybe improve SEO a bit...etc.

When XF 2.3 is released...and I upgrade to XF 2.3...I didn't want any of the template changes the 3rd party folks made to interfere or conflict with the improvements of XF 2.3.

Is there some way to do this...without interfering with regular website traffic/activity?

Thanks

p.s. Ideally I could reset things...and not effect the extra skins I made.

It's not clear to me what you're looking to reset exactly. You can create a new style with no parent to get the default style, and then apply any customizations you wish to retain to it.

My concern is when some 3rd party folks worked on my XF site...they modified some code/templates different from the original XF code. When XF 2.3 is released & I upgrade to 2.3...I wanted to start fresh without any of the changes the 3rd party folks made.

In others words...I wanted XF 2.3 (when released)...to work exactly as intended by XF developers...and not have any conflicts with any code/template changes that were made.

What would be the best way to start fresh with XF 2.3 (when released)...without any interruption to website traffic/operation?

Thanks

That depends entirely on what changes were made and how they were applied. Broadly speaking, you can uninstall add-ons and styles and replace any changed core files with ones downloaded from your customer area.

If the changes were especially invasive, you could import into a fresh installation, but that should rarely be necessary.

If any original XF files were changed this notice would show in your Admin panel (unless they rehashed the files) or you can check by running Tools -->> File health check.
Templates can always be Reverted to original...

Good deal...that's what I was hoping to hear. Thanks

My site has the XF default style...and multiple other styles I created. Since the templates from some of these custom styles must have been modified by the folks that worked on my site...when I upgrade to XF 2.3 (when released)...will it be safe to work with any of these custom styles?

I just want XF 2.3 (when released)...to work 100% as the XF developers intended.

Thanks

Default XF templates will automatically be updated and your custom styles will attempt to be automatically merged. Those that do not automatically merge will be flagged and then you can fix them as needed.

Excellent...thanks much for the help.

I don't do this sort of stuff that often...thus all the questions/confusion.

This is what you will see if after upgrading you have outdated templates. (Disregard the mail warning as the upgrade was done on a test site)
