XF 1.5 How to recover just one deleted thread

Today I accidentally permanently deleted a thread from the forum.
I have a working back up dated friday, but I can't substitute the entire database as other threads have been added since friday.
I would only like to restore a thread from that backup, is it possible?
If yes how can I do it?

thank you,
Viola

cant restore a single thread but you could copy and paste the psts from the thread posts table if you restored to a second database.
I was thinking of installing a local copy of Xenforo on my mac with an older data base in order to copy part of the old thread. Is there a post on this forum that explains how to install a local copy on mac? I am really new to all of this and I'm always afraid of messing everything up! ;) I have desktop server (Xampp) that I use for my website, is it possible to use it also for xenforo?
Thank you for any help or indication you can give me! :)

Once you have a backup forum running, you will do this:

1) Create a new thread on your live forum.
2) Copy the message text from the backup forum post #1 to the new thread.
3) Use the following two add-on to change the author and time of post.

https://xenforo.com/community/resources/change-author.2832/

https://xenforo.com/community/resources/change-date.2371/

4) Do the same for the remainder of posts, copy/paste message to new post change date and author.
Thank you AndyB! :)

Tip I learned myself: Disable all hard deletes on your admin account. If you really want something gone, you will have to turn it back on and then go remove it a 2nd time.
