XF 2.3 How to re-size our OLD/existing pictures?

Thanks to XF 2.3, all new images uploaded are auto-resized on the client side.
But does anyone know how I can resize all of our old pictures?
We've got tons of old pics up to 14MB in size that I'd love to downsize down to a MB or less.

I guess : /admin.php?tools/rebuild



But it's a Webp converter, i don't think it resizes pictures...

Webp is supposed to reduce file size by ~25%.
So, it's an option but I'm hoping to reduce by ~90%.

Note that the default compression is 85%. Chris D has mentioned that this can now be changed in the config.php file by adding

PHP:
$config['maxImageResizeQuality'] = 85;

and raising the (or lowering) the number. sadly there is no one-size-fits-all as the optimum can vary depending on the image itself.

I've just optimised my test site images at compression:35. Attachments directory went down from 2.58GB to 658MB and the pictures don't seem to have suffered in any significant way.

To anyone following this, I left the optimizer at the default setting.
It took nearly 48 hours to complete, though we didn't notice any performance degradation on the board.
And it knocked our disk space utilization by almost exactly half!

Really large picture sizes were knocked down to "normal" size onscreen.
So, the really large ones no longer take up the full screen on my 1080P monitor.

I'm not crazy about webp as a file extension in general though.
