XF 1.2 How to completely remove node icons?

Without doing template edits you can easily achieve it this way:

Style Properties -> Node Icons: put in the misc box: display: none;

Then Style Properties -> Forum / Node List -> Node Text Block,

Adjust the left margin to 0px or whichever you prefer.
