XF 1.4 How to allow users to select their own User Title (or User Group)?

We need to allow users to select their own User Titles (or User Groups) so that they can classify themselves under specific categories. For example, imagine allowing users to select their profession, and having different User Title flairs for whatever profession they select (Engineer, Doctor, Lawyer, etc.).

How can we do that?
