To me those emails are almost spam. I don't care that they want me to come back soon, and engage with their site again. If the thread was important to me, I'll be back for sure.
But I also realize that's just my opinion. And I wouldn't want to shut the emails off if they promote engagement and remind users to return to my forum, without pestering them. So I'm not sure what to do here, as my own opinion may conflict with what's best for my forum.
The last thing I would want is for them to hit the spam button on my forum.
By default, how often will Xenforo 2.2 send emails to users? And what are those emails related to? I only see 3 reasons it would send an automated email. Registration, thread reply notifications, and notificaitons about new content. Right now I have it set like this:
Enable activity summary email
Stop sending summary email when user has been inactive for 730 Days
That looks like it will remind them that the forum exists in 1 year. Then every 5 months, then it will stop at the 2 year mark. That doesn't sound like too much spam to me.
