How have you defeated the automated bot signups?

Just wondering how the big boys do it :)

I use my forum as my community and as the main user registration system for my game. We authenticate our game client against the XenForo database.

What I would like to prevent, is the automated bot sign ups that plague all of us forum owners. Since our game isn't published yet, it is difficult to set up Question/Answer fields in the registration page.

I have read the XF documents but still wonder what solutions others have come up with.

Thank you for your reply and wisdom!

Those are not bot registrations though, which is what the OP is asking about.

I must not be reading what you are reading.
is the automated bot sign ups that plague all of us forum owners.

In the thread I linked to, there are a few ways listed to prevent automated bots.

1. Start banning from server level with IP addresses,
2. Use Cloudflare
3. Use robots.txt
4. Stopforumspam
5. Q&A is effective and you can also use generic questions like What color is grass, What color is the sky, What Year is it,
or even questions like this " What year did the game start? (Answer: 2021) give them the answer to the question.
6. Use a plugin.

Good Luck
