MG 2.0 How does MG handle existing images when installed?

(not sure which forum to ask this in, please move if needed)

I'm considering MG for my site and wondered how it works with existing images already saved. When you do the initial installation does it recognize them and put them in a general album or structure, meaning, does it use the existing file or do you have the import them one/ten at a time and create a second file? Does this add to inodes counts?

Hopefully that made some sense. I'm still learning this stuff..

No, that doesn't happen.

Content must be explicitly uploaded to the gallery.

Right now I have roughly 55k images on the site so they would have to be downloaded, extension changed, then uploaded to MG?
