How does caching work?

    I can't help but notice: webroot\internal_data\page_cache

    What's in there? Is this how xf caches stuff? How does using APC changes that behaviour?

    ... so many questions :)

    From what I can tell, internal_data/page_cache isn't used. The directory is created during the installation but is not referenced anywhere else in the code.

    APC speeds up PHP execution by caching the compiled script. Here is an explanation:

    I see, it's a shame none of this seems documented anywhere. Going through the code is not the most efficient way to learn how xf function. Hopefully they can change that in the future.
