How do you like your e-mails?

Hey guys,

With my community growing remarkably large on a daily basis, we are struggling to send mass e-mails without errors! We're simply sending too many e-mails per hour (Over 3000 e-mails per hour on some days!) - our community members love being notified whenever someone replies to their post. It's a growing culture.

I'm wondering, what service do you like using to send e-mails to your users without bloating down your own server?

Try http://mandrill.com/ ?

There's a plugin by xfrocks somewhere that makes use of it.

Why not buy a VPS and set that as your mail server? We've done that and it has worked beautifully in conjunction with FreddysHouse bounced managed mod.

Because there is a greater chance your server/ip will get flagged for spam in comparison to services that specialize in sending mass emails (they are usually in the white list).

To OP, disable sending emails per reply in threads. Most users think it's annoying, and you are more than welcome to make a poll about it or analyze you database how many people have disabled this option.
