XF 1.2 How Do You Get Members' Correct Usergroups to Display on Forum?

Okay, I'm feeling stupid about this one, because I'm convinced it must be simple, and yet I can't figure it out. All I want to do is have users' correct usergroup names display on the forums. In every forum platforum I've ever used, this was as easy as picking a usergroup from a menu and clicking save, but that does not seem to be working with Xenforo. No matter what usergroup I choose, whether primary or secondary, it makes no difference. So if I make someone a member of the "VIP" usergroup, for example, on the forums it keeps right on showing that person as just a "member." How do I get it to show "VIP" instead? The only way I can currently see what actual usergroup a person belongs to is to search the admin. Can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me what I'm doing wrong? ;)

Thank you! Took a bit of getting used to, but I think I've more or less gotten the hang of it. I wouldn't call it the most "intuitive" system but I guess once you know where to look and what to do it's not too bad. ;)
