XF 1.3 How do you add buttons to the text editor?

Any easy way of doing it?

I've seen a lot other xF sites with a ton of icons that aren't there by default.

In the current release, the only built in way of adding buttons is when you add custom bb code.
Is that what you mean?

I feel really silly, since we've been working on bbcodes for the past few hours and that missed me.
