XF 1.2 How do I generate a dynamic footer sitemap?

You've seen it somewhere on the web. That chunk of page at the bottom of every page that links back to pretty much everywhere else on the site.

The Verge, for example

How can I dynamically pull from XenForo's node / page list to build the middle two chunks of that? (forums on the left, links to members / recent activity / etc on the right)

The Quick Navigation menu would be a good start - if there were some way to just plop that down onto the footer and go from there, I think I could finagle it to get the effect I'm looking for.

As I often do, I got lost down that rabbit hole and started messing around with the footer myself. Right now the node list is just manually plopped down into the template (good ol' copy/paste)

Very first-pass sort of stuff

Next step is probably to make it so the user can get rid of it if they so choose
