XF 1.4 HeidiSQL and upload of older SQL file

Soooo... I think I just made a huge error! Because my site is now down.

I was planning to find some old stuff in a backup database I had on disk.
So I uploaded it to HeidiSQL for viewing, however I was still connected to the database on my forum, and it seems like I have overwritten lots of stuff.

When the panic hit me like a truck doing easily 100mph... I canceled the upload.
So the result is, site is down and all is ****!

Even worse, is that my last backup is from 3rd of April, and I have done major changes to the forum since then.

Question: is there anything I can do? Or have I got the lesson of a lifetime now?

Unless there is an option to roll back the changes made to the database, you will need to restore from a viable backup.

Thanks, but there is no roll back possibilities here.

Guess I have to check my hosting company if they have database copies and can restore for me.

That could be due to a bad dump or restore.

How was the dump taken and what did you use to restore it?

I took a dump directly from my host, so it created a full SQL dump.

Then uploaded via HeidiSQL for restore. But maybe I should try and do it via MySQL and via shell instead?
