XF 2.1 Google Indexing

Hi folks, I'm migrating an old forum that use ForumCo software and I have some questions related with Google Indexing.

Our currently forum have a great google indexing (if you use "search" site:forum_url) you can find a looooooot of content.

It's probably because the forum have more than 10 years and it's more than indexed.

So my questions now after migration:

• I doesn't want guests to be able go see the content.
• Only registered members + after presentation are able to see the content.
• I want Google Robots to index the forum likely a Register + Presented user.

Is there any tips about it? Or should I keep the forum public for a short period of time and then implement my own "see content policies" ?

If you want Google to keep indexing your forum, then allow posts to be visible by visitors. There's no way to have Google keep indexing your forum and not allow visitors to view posts.

You can't do this. You must show Google the same content as a guest.

Maybe, I can hook the code and display the same results as a registered user if you are using GoogleBot user agent.

Doing this is against Google TOS and Google will blacklist your domain.

And if Google notices that you violate their rules, you're faster off the index than you can see.

Google rules dictate that Google and guests see exactly the same thing.

No, that's considered a spam technique by Google and can get your site de-listed. You can offer some number of pages to guests instead before requiring them to register, but you must mark up your pages correctly.

What's the motivation for doing this? You're still going to get a big hit from google. If you don't care about losing your google traffic, then ok. But make sure you've thought this through.
