XF 1.5 Give poll permissions to non-thread starter

We made a mistake several months ago by allowing the wrong member to start a very long thread. The thread is one of the central discussions of the forum and already has hundreds of pages.

The thread needs to have the poll refreshed on a regular basis, and the member who needs to be doing it is not the thread starter. Is there a creative way to fix this situation?

Members would require the relevant moderator related permission in order to add/edit a poll to/on threads started by others.

I realize that. I was looking for a way to pass the "ownership" of this particular thread to the poll guy, from the backend maybe. Without changing the authorship of the first post, because that post is now a classic in its own right.

    It's not possible.
