XF 1.4 Give guests access to Recent Activity stream, without giving access to member lists?

Is this possible? Sadly it seems like the recent activity stream can only be accessed via the Members tab, which also gives access to member details.

Couldn't you just use the pages feature to create a custom page with an activity stream in it that everyone can see?

Is that easy to do? I've used custom pages before, but only for static HTML content. Is there a guide setting out how to make calls to the DB or call the existing recent content template?

It would require PHP code to do that.
