After creating a custom field through the ACP, I was scratching my head wondering where the hell the field name was stored in the database.
Well incase you were wondering, it's stored in xf_user_field.field_id as pairs of hex numbers relating to ascii characters.
So a field name of 'colour' would be 636f6c6f7572.
So if your head is pickled like mine was, then now you know.
