I have lots of experience interacting with autistic people on forums, and I'm catching that vibe from you. Knowing this would help us interact with you better. Asperger's perhaps? If so let us know. Do you want the forum to grow? You've GOT to make it open, IMO.

Create special subforums for private information exchanges.

The subject matter of my forum can be controversial. But, I'm sure some members would rather it be all private. But, I didn't ask them. Most similar forums are open. I just don't see how you can grow a private forum UNLESS you are an "influencer" with a BIG following ALREADY.

I made it semi open to the public following your advice. I made thread titles visible but the to see the actual messages you need to be a member. Same with the media gallery.

Your niche is tailored for a great design. Forget traffic light colors, that's too literal, and quite frankly, pedestrian (pun intended). I can see a cool header with some signage, some out of focus, some sharp, and a slick logo, and mid-dark colors overall. Almost like the colors of a metropolis... some concrete, black, grey, and some green/yellow accents to bring in the signage reference. Forget red altogether. And the green, you know, DARK! lol.

It was mainly the website glitches that turned people away from the website. Functionality is the most important part.
