forum admin template -- adding fields

Hello,

I wanted to add a field to the template "forum_edit", however .. I don't want to have to hardcode it into the template to add it. I was wondering if there's a way to be able to do it like one would go about doing it on thread_create using the hook "thread_create_fields_main"

any help would be appreciated
