www.yoursite.com/* redirect now yoursite.com/*
That's all

You can also keep the www, not you shouldn't have the both pour the same content.

Or... you can set your preferred URL in google webmaster tools and not worry about the redirect.
With that said, I do have a redirect in place to remove www on most of my sites.

It's not part of the XenForo software, how can it possibly be in the core?

It's an .htaccess server rewrite rule.
