Far too slow these days? Best way to cache?

The last few weeks I've noticed the site getting slower and slower. I've spoken to my host and it's not the server etc.

Now the sites getting busier, I really need to get this right.

What's the best way to cache?

You have a custom style and what appears to be several add-ons.

The first step would be to revert to a default style and to disable add-ons and then monitor performance.

There is no reason for a site to slow down over time - this one certainly hasn't.

Are you on shared hosting or a VPS?

Both frontend and backend are required; the frontend enables the cache, the backend defines the type.
