Is nobody else having the problem that I'm having ? Where the icon literally overlaps the Like and Unlike text ?

Can I take a look at the page with that like button? Could be some other css also applied to it.

Is the follow link inside profile overlay? If so, you can use the same method as like/unlike. The class is

.userInfo .userLinks .FollowLink

Looks like .FollowLink alone will work on both overlay and full profile page.
Not sure if it will show up anywhere else.

yes it work on both places, is it possible to not show on profile overlay popup? show on profile page only.

I will get it to you when I am on my computer again... And as I said also for your info it is not just a Mac thing, it is on PC as well so much be a skin specific thing, or something I had tweaked that it's not cooperating with'
