Extra expenses

Hello there!

First I want to congratulate the people behind XenForo project on their excellent work. Clearly a superior state-of-the-art software and wish you all the best.

My question is; is there an essential "must buy" add-ons (or mod) that I might need to buy?
Something like "bot/spam" blocker add-on which costs $xx?

I mean something that you can arguably say you HAVE to have or your life will be hell; and it costs extra fees.

But is there an addon/mod that requires extra payment? Or are they all free and only required installation?

My main concern is functionality (like spam block/bot block, Security Issues..etc); every other feature is fluff for me basically.

Because we tried phpBB and the bot spam was INSANE there and the forum was practically hell and nonfunctional without an anti-spam addon.

"Essential" needs will apply and differ amongst everyone. Showcase by @Bob B is an essential add-on to me because it allows me to promote resources which are W.I.P and display them before final release thus giving members a chance to see what is coming. It's another form of xenforo's - Have you seen?.

Post Ratings - Extension to likes by @Luke Foreman is another essential add-on, to me. It allows myself, members of my site to rating posts in otherways other than just a standard like. They may have found a post funny, annoying or generally disliked it and this add-on essentially gives them that verstility to choose from different post ratings that they can make which are at their disposal.

Bookmarks - By @Syndol is another, again essential to my needs because this add-on allows the members and myself to bookmark and consolidate posts and add them to my/their bookmarks.

Those are just a few examples of what is essential to me but your needs are most certainly going to be different essential to you. What functionality do you need? What features do you want for your members? if, whatever you can think is essential to you then the add-on that accomplishes these set of criteria will be essential to you.

XenForo comes with many options built in to prevent spam - http://xenforo.com/community/threads/spam-prevention-and-management.51091/ and http://xenforo.com/community/threads/1-1-4-anti-spam-improvements-for-registration.45829/. The software is secure and stable as well.

You'll have to associate your license with your forum account before you can start posting in customer areas. Wasn't sure if you did this already?
