It's not clear though. Can it be enabled by having Elastic Search on the server or must it also have XFES? Or are there other search sources e.g. 3rd part addons that might support Search Suggestions? I think it would be useful to make this totally unambiguous.

XenForo has a concept of search providers, and the provider decides whether it can support suggestions or not. The core provider in XF is MySQL full-text, which does not support suggestions. The Enhanced Search add-on implements an Elasticsearch provider, which does support suggestions. Third party add-ons may implement alternative providers, and it is up to them whether or not they can support suggestions.
Thanks for the clarification, Jeremy P. I thought this feature was included in the latest update, which is why I updated. I'll review the XFES/Elasticsearch settings again to make sure. Thanks again!
