"If you start typing an emoticon (eg :zar to bring up :zaru) then hit <enter> to auto-complete, it inserts a carriage return before the emoticon."

This seems to be the case with the 2.3.7 Update. A bug ?

Another thing.

"When I try to tag someone, @Rob, and click on the name, it deletes a couple of words written before that. It does not always happen, so I don't know how to replicate this."

Are you using Firefox? This has been a known issue with Froala (Xenforo's editor) and Firefox for a while (i.e. pre-2.3.7). I am now a Firefox user and learning to live with it but, yeah, hope the move to TipTap fixes it. Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, and many other browsers nowadays) are unaffected, or at least were prior to 2.3.7. I haven't tried in a Chromium browser since the upgrade.

I am got it from the user base and this is happening since 2.3.7 I think.

This is a javascript bug which affects emojis but not smilies (basically an javascript error is causing the 'enter' key to add a newline instead of finishing the autocomplete). A part of this bug is it isn't tracking recent emoji usage properly

The latest update of my (paid) Advanced Bb Codes Pack add-on contains a bugfix for this (for all affected XF2.3 versions). This also fix that recent emojis added by the emoji autocomplete where not tracked by either XF2.2 or XF2.3.

I've offered the bugfix I've used to XF so hopefully it will be fixed in XF2.3.8
