Awaiting feedback Emails in User Upgrades - Showing “invalid@example.com” in Stripe

Hi,

I just set up the Stripe payment gateway for my forum, but I’m running into an issue. When checking the transactions for User Upgrades in Stripe, all the payments are associated with the email invalid@example.com instead of the actual email address of the XenForo users.

Does anyone know how to fix this so that the real user email is sent to Stripe during the transaction?

I’d really appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Automated triage: Awaiting feedback

Thank you for reporting this issue. For a logged-in member with a normal email address, the Stripe integration sends that member's own email. The placeholder address is only used when the member's account has no email or one that fails validation. We need a little more detail to look into this.

  • Does this happen for every member who buys an upgrade, including members whose account has a normal email address (e.g. name@gmail.com), or only for some members?
  • For an affected purchase, does that member's account in the Admin control panel have an email address, and what form does it take (e.g. empty, signed up through a connected account, unusual characters)?
  • Which exact XenForo version (2.3.x) are you running, and do you have any add-ons that change payments, Stripe, or user emails?
  • In Stripe, are you looking at the Customer email, or at a receipt or billing email on the payment, and did those customers already exist from earlier testing?

This is an automated assessment. A member of staff may review and update it.
