The price is more, but you get much better specs, and you also get guaranteed updates (Asus has the best history for updating their products).

I'm getting one of these along with the 2nd generation Asus Transformer Prime (Which is a 10.2" tablet).

The Kindle Fire :D. Although if I have to upgrade it will probably end up being the iPad 3 or Toshiba Thrive depending on what the iPad 3 brings to the table.

Yeah I like this Kindle Fire. But I am starting to separate tablets from ebook readers. I also can read ebooks on kindle fire but it hasnt got cleartext display "You can read books on it, but it may be harder to read compared to a dedicated Ereader with E ink...", so i am in doubt. Idk what should i buy :S

I use a HTC Flyer to read ebooks on (I use Aldiko), and haven't had any issue reading on them.

The Kindle Fire is alright, but as far as specs goes it is quite limited. It's fine if you just want to play low-resource games, and browse the web or read ebooks. But it is mostly locked to the Amazon App Market, and you are better off getting a real tablet.

With the Memo, you get a quad core tablet with nice specs, and a nearly vanilla experience (They only do a few changes, most of which are for performance or widgets). They update consistently, and you have access to any of the Android Markets. Asus also has one of the best warranties.

As far as I'm aware, you'll be able to play the more resource intensive on the Memo (Like Riptide GP:

Hmm, i am not much of a gamer - if i am going to play something badly i'll go on pc :P(btw is this memo out yet? I cannot find it on amazon). So you say that the color ink is also fine for reading? Or is something better than kindle fire for the same price(bigger or lower)?

I thought so as well, but there are quite a few games I enjoy playing on Android now :p. I also just got Shadowgun for .49 cents.

I think the Memo will be released in a few months, as it was advertised during either CES or MWC (I forget which).

I have a regular ereader, and a few tablets, and I prefer the tablets. I didn't notice any issues with reading on the tablets either, but I generally set the background to black on Aldiko.

It is a bit more than the Kindle, but it has more to offer, which is why I recommend it. The Kindle is alright if you'll always be a light user of the tablet, but if you ever change to wanting to do heavier stuff, it'll be fairly useless due to the specs.

Too bad i cannot get any in Europe from amazon, what the hell. Price of the kindle fire is bigger 75$ in Europe on ebay -.- totally sucks. Know any europe ones easy to get?

The HTC Flyer is decent, though I'd still recommend waiting on the Memo, which should be released between April-June.

Bumping this to add a new ereader app for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...er#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiZXMuaWNlcmVhZGVyIl0.

Just started using it today, and have to say it's much quicker than any other e-reader I use. It has native dropbox support, and will automatically sync your position on your book across devices.

It is missing a few things, like jumping between pages, support for other formats (Epub/txt only atm) and mostly minor features.

Things I really like about it:

The speed is very impressive, flipping pages have a slight animation, but not to the degree like most ereaders (And definitely not the page turn that just annoys me).

Dropbox support is very nice as it lets you import directly from the dropbox folder, as well as accessing the SD, or any microSD cards you have installed.

Night mode isn't just white on black; it is more of a textured dark gray, with a slight off white for text which is less blinding on your eyes (I have to use night mode on the lowest brightness when I'm reading).

Tells you the progress of your book, and will auto-look up covers for books. It doesn't have the page you're on, which is a bit annoying when you decide to switch as you can't find the page exactly (There isn't a jump to page either).
