How to avoid the Google Webmaster errors pertaining to Duplicate Page Titles.

It seems if 2 users post the questions with exact same title. It creates a duplicate page title issue.

How to prevent this from happening?

I don’t know that you can.

I will often merge those threads.

How to prevent this from happening?

Do not post more than one thread with the exact same title

You can't prevent this (out of the box), what you can do is

• Edit thread titles afterwards
• Merge threads
• Delete threads
• Move affected threads into a forum that is not accessible by guests or is not indexed

Ours is a high-traffic forum so checking regularly for posts with the same title will not be possible. So I am looking for some solution so that the Titles are different and we can avoid the Google Webmaster error.

Using similar threads widget can help, if a user sees the topic has already been raised or the same question been asked.
