Add-on Does anyone have any desire for a blockchain integration addon for Xenforo?

As it stands, a hacker, forum admin, or moderator with sufficient powers can edit a users post to say something they did not. Conversely, a user can claim someone else edited their post when it was in fact them. With normal databases, this isn't definitively provable. With blockchain, implemented correctly, you CAN prove who edited a post and when.

Is there any desire for such a modification? Such a modification would cost nothing upfront but would cost about 1 cent per thread and post that was secured by the blockchain. You would not need to hold or purchase any cryptocurrency.

I have been designing and working on something similar for a while now.

I can tell you while the basic premise doesnt sound too complex, it starts to fall on its face quite quickly when you start looking at the actual implementation.

What blockchain are you using and what pitfalls did you run into? Do you think there would be much of a demand for a successful implementation?

It's a much larger potential implementation which im not ready to discuss openly yet.

But lets take your example, an addon for XF2.

Whats to stop the admin putting code in to hold your post prior to submission to the blockchain? Until its encrypted, signed and submitted you are still at the mercy of the admin or staff.

Assuming you implement a way that means this cant be done, then what would an admin do if a competitor comes and spams their link over your board, ok you can remove it, but the record would be there for people to find otherwise it removes the point of having immutable records.

And those are just the basic end user issues.

Interesting, thank you.

Do you think there's an actual need for such a solution? Do you think you'll be able to overcome those hurdles?

Are you looking for investors? :)
