I do a test deployment, and if vital applications work, then I upgrade.

I've always update right away. I'm sure one day I'll regret that considering I haven't made a backup of the database nor style(s) yet.

I lost a few nearly coded styles by doing something stupid without a backup :'(.

Rather than re-code them I made new styles .

Usually weeks after release for me, takes way too long to merge the templates - should be automatic. Updating vB4 was far faster and easier.

I keep my development install up to date though, since its style is unmodified.
