Disallow / auto-delete empty albums

If you go to add media and create a new album, the album is create and saved before any media is added. If the user quits at this point the album remains, but is empty.

Any way to stop this happening? Can empty albums be deleted after x no. days?

There's nothing like that, no.

From a moderation point of view, you can go to the albums home page, change the order to "Most Items" then go to the last pages. You could then use inline moderation to delete any empty albums, by working back from the last page.
