Is there a way to disable non-admins from posting new discussions but allow anyone to add a post to a current one?

For example, I have an Events section that I only want the admins to add official events to but I want everyone to be able to comment on the events that are placed in there.

    Thanks

Disallow "Create New Thread" in permissions for the node.

As Jeremy said, although the permission is called "Post new thread".

When I uncheck "Allow new messages to be posted in this forum" it disables people from creating new discussions but it also keeps them from replying to current discussions. I want to all them to keep replying, just not create a new one.

Don't uncheck the option on the node, do it via the user group permissions.

It looks like if I do that it will effect all areas and I want have it in just one. That's if I go to User -> Group Permissions. Am I wrong?

Sorry yes, I meant the node permissions for the user groups.

Revoke the permission for the Registered group, allow it for the Administrative group.

That worked and now that I see it it's obvious. Thanks for the help.
