XF 1.2 Directories

I would rather not have to install XenForo in my root webserver directory. Is it possible to have the index.php in a directory which would supersede the XenForo directory such that:

/index.php
/forums/*

The file and directory structure must remain intact.

So you can install in the root or a directory, not a mixture of both.
