XF 2.3 Different homepage than forum W/O Copyright (License Question)

I seem to recall a post made by @Kier and even a tutorial on how to create a homepage different than the forum and to have "branding removal" done on the homepage, much like it is on XenForo.com compared to XenForo.com/community, and not have branding removal on the forum.

That said, can the different homepage be a different URL from the forum's license if its only purpose is to be a "landing page" and to direct visitors to different forum(s)?

It would make management of that page much easier than putting up a WordPress or custom page is the reason why I'm asking.

When you say a different URL from the forum's licence what exactly do you mean?

I have made a home page that was totally html, ie no xenforo features at all, no widgets, no navigation, nothing on it to suggest any xenForo features. For a while had this as the home page on a forum because it was blank there was no xenForo branding but I realised that this was probably wrong (and I have edited my blank page tutorial accordingly).

Thinking about it had that been a Wordpress page but still the home page, ie the root of the domain, it would not have needed the xenForo copyright. The problem with a Wordpress home page whenever I've tried is the issues with having (or rather not having) two index.php at the same URL Both xenForo and Wordpress rely on their own index.php

If the page is generated by XF then it must have the copyright text in place.

Indeed that's what I meant to imply when I said if it was a Wordpress page it would not need it, whereas xenforo page must have it even if the page was pure html and on it to look like xenForo (and would look identical to the page you did with Wordpress or just html), it must still have the copyright.

I did have a xenForo form with an html home page for a while. It was the root of the domain but worked because it was index.html. It is necessary to define what is the domain route in htaccess or else a browser wouldn't know whether to use the xenForo index.php or my own index.html. In that case I don't believe the xenForo copyright is necessary but the only way IMO for no branding on home page is to make the page something that isn't xenForo, e.g. Wordpress or static html page.
