Dev instance of xenforo

I'm noob on xenforo, wondering if it would be okay to have a dev instance (for installing mods or creating my own) and a prod instance.

Would I need two separate licenses as well.

I would plan to put the code in a private git repository.

You're allowed a private dev instance protected via a password in addition to your live instance.

You can also have a localhost development installation, which is what I would recommend.

It's far easier/safer working locally than on a production server.

That's what I was planning on doing, any limits on local installs?
