Desperate for a solution...vB/PP/Joomla

I'm a long-time vBulletin customer of several websites.

One of my primary sites using a pretty souped up version of vB 3.8.1 and PhotoPost 6.01.

I have over 500K posts, 17K members, 15K photos with 60K comments on photos.

From the beginning of the vB4 release I knew that wasn't it for me. No more vB, but what?

I also very much need to turn my main site from straight html to Joomla. I use Joomla for all my other websites and will not consider any other CMS option.

So, I need something will match my vB forum in stability, functionality and ease-of-use and ease-of-moderation AND includes a sophisticated gallery integration AND allows me to share login information between forum/gallery and Joomla.

Is xenForo a possibility at this point? Can I import/migrate forum data and gallery data given my configuration?

I've looked at IPB, but it looks like Joomla integration is not possible.

The Kunena forum -- native to Joomla just isn't mature enough yet and there really is no great Joomla photo gallery solution -- I've tried them all.

When it comes to Joomla integration, the real ideal is a strong integration with JomSocial, but at this point, I would settle for just user login integration.

I'm getting desperate for a solution.

So Craigr, how did you find the conversion from vB4 to xenForo? How big is your forum? What did you have to give up, what did you gain? Thanks for any insight.

While I'm not Craigr, and our forum is not that big, importing was a breeze. We're not live yet, but I have run import tests various times, and never once ran into an issue with the import.

I have 5643 images in my gallery and 5168 comments. I upgraded from earlier version of vBGallery Photopost so the upgrade went relatively easy once i used the correct importer.

I never upgraded to vb4 at any point even though i bought a licence. My upgrade was from vBulletin 3 and it was very easy. No problems at all. I have 10659 members, 9838 threads and 193615 posts.

The reason i upgraded to Photopost 7.1 was the member integration with Xenforo.

No one here is interested in Photopost.
They have some interest in a Photopost Xenforo plugin.

Is it possible to create usergroup permission integration with Joomla?
Is it possible to integrate new content so that 'what's new' shows Images, forum and Joomla content? Could sphinx be used for this?

You mentioned that you'd like to use Jomsocial which has an integrated gallery itself. Why not do that? I'm sure Xenforo could be integrated or hacked so that clicking on the profile or avatar will take you to the user's profile and hence gallery.

I think it's xenforo that restricts What's New to What's New in Posts. Read the end of the Xencarta thread for more details.

In case you were still considering IPB as an option you should be aware that the new 4.x gallery is pretty terrible. I moved from VB to IPB with gallery 3.x and gallery 4 has left me in a bind where i find myself looking to move again.
