XF 2.1 Database size drastically reduced after upgrading to 2.1. Why?

My XenForo 1.4.5 database was 700MB before upgrading. The database shrank to 99MB after upgrading to 2.1. Is that normal or expected? How exactly is this reduction in size accomplished?

The schema is different between XF1 and XF2.

I'm guessing you had the bb code cache enabled in XF1, which can become a large table.
