XF 1.4 Database settings problem on installation

I am trying to install XenForo 1.4.7 for the first time and I'm seeing the following error:

The following error occurred while connecting to the database:
Access denied for user 'cl53-forum-pi5 '@'10.0.44.116' (using password: YES)

I've checked with the hosting support and they have confirmed that the settings are correct - "The database name will be the same as the username. Your MySQL Databases are hosted on the respective servers listed on port 3306". Using 'localhost' is OK as I have used it with other applications in the past.

Any ideas? I'm a XenForo newbie!

Ensure the database user name and password are correct and the user has been granted full rights for the database.

Username and password are definitely correct - both copied/pasted with no additional line breaks/characters picked up while copying. Do the rights have to be set up in phpMyAdmin or in one XenForo's files?

I've never had this problem with any other installation before on the same hosting service.

It has to be done in MySQL.
If you have cPanel, you can do it from the interface there.

The configuration eventually worked and the forum is now up and running.
