I've checked your website for this feature. Seems there's no toggler for open/expand/close/shrink this vertical navigation?

Perhaps adding a burger menu here for that purpose?

Yes, there isn't any toggled. I'll think about it, but don't see much need for it as it can add more clutter.

Below the footer there is like a blank space, how can i remove it?

When you'll fill the forum list with nodes this will go away.

In the meantime you can change the Page background colour (Style properties > Page setup):
