XF 2.2 Custom numerical field without [+][-] buttons

I have created a custom user field for "zip / postal code" and wanted to know if it's possible to remove the [+] [-] buttons next to the text field with a number only user field.... or if there's a way to take a standard text box and apply conditions that numbers are only allowed to be used

Set the field as a single line text box and use the regex option, restricting it to 0-9 only: /^[0-9]+$

thanks @Brogan for some reason it rejected that line, but this was accepted

Oh yes, I forgot, for custom user fields you cannot use modifiers and must not include the start and end /.

what would I need for regex to allow for letters, numbers, and spaces only (no underscore included like the option has pre-built into xf)

I tried that, it spits out the "please enter a value that matches the required format" error when i put 'test test' in the box and try to save
