Custom field Questions

Hello,
I have two questions.

How many custom fields can we create?

Why aren't some of my fields showing up in registration, even though I've clicked the "show during registration" option and all the rest of the field information is correct.

I believe the field must also be 'User editable' in order to show on the registration page.

Odd. All fixed. We ended up just deleting that particular field and adding it again. Now it's working. I have no idea what could have caused this. This time, I'm sure it wasn't me... Whew.. LOL
