XF 2.0 Custom date field

Is there a quick fix possible to restrict custom (user) date field to past and current date only? Currently, we can restrict it to past dates only.

I suggested that some time ago, but from the attention it has gained (0 so far), it seems like there is no future of it! But unfortunately, that's very important modification for me.

Apology for bumping this old thread, but any hint, please? I was looking through the classes, but couldn't really get a simple connection to do this.
