Cruising the ICW

Just got back from a trip on the ICW...
We did the "loop", which was crusing down the Dismal Swamp Canal

then stayed over in Elizabeth City at Mariner's Warf.

then returned back via the ICW-1..

About a 100 mile loop.

Did you have any concerns about running aground?

Always, but keep a close eye on the charts and all was good.
Dismal never got less than 5 feet.

Can't think of a nicer way to spend time.

You betcha...
Left Potomac River, hit Chesapeake Bay, then VA Beach (short stint in Atlantic).
Then to Norfolk for a visit...
Then the ICW
Then to James River (ghost fleet)
Then to Tangier Island
Then back up the Potomac

14 days total and in a 25 foot cruiser to boot. Nearly 700 miles total.
About 3,000 in fuel costs alone.

Was very cool and very good experience.
My first time in "big water" and in a "lock" so next time around....
