cPanel install to 2 domain extensions

I'm looking at purchasing Xenforo to use on a site installed via cPanel.

In cPanel I can install two domains into the same directory so both domains resolve to the same website.

Example:

MyDomain.fr
MyDomain.com

Because the two domains are in the same directory either will work on any of the files.

MyDomain.fr/file/index.html would resolve exactly the same as MyDomain.com/file/index.html

So it's basically one site but has two active extensions. When I install Xenforo in the same directory as these two domains will Xenforo honor that setting?

MyDomain.com/forum/threads/hello.101
MyDomain.fr/forum/threads/hello.101

I'm looking to have booth domains accessible in the address bar using the same database, using the same logins. They would be the same site except if someone feels more comfortable using their local extension it would also work with it instead of the .com.

Does anyone have experience running a site this way?

PS. I'm not interested in running two sites, just two identical domain names with separate extensions.

FYI - just because something can be done does not mean it should be done.

There are some major downsides, as far as SEO is concerned, running a setup like this. You will need to select a canonical 'domain', which means the secondary domain will not have any unique data and will not rank well in search engines. This in turn means the secondary domain will always have little to no search engine traffic. Then keep in mind just because you set a canonical doesn't mean the search engine will always except it as the canonical. So there will be instances where some pages will be ranked to your secondary domain and not to your primary domain. This can kill your site before you even get started as forums are almost always search engine dependent, especially starting out.

Think hard about going this direction. If you've got a decent .com domain name I would suggest just using it, it is the most standard extension for "global" reach and acceptance. Don't over complicate by providing multiple domains extensions with the same content. The standard practice is to use .com and 301 redirect any additional domains to the main .com domain. This fixes the duplicate content issues and won't start you off on the wrong foot with search engine complications.

You are looking for this addon (and one XenForo license per domain):
That addon is not maintained and it's for running two sites, I'm looking to run two URL's to the same site and same content with only the extension part of the url being different.

XenCentral Multisite System 2 is a fully-featured multisite solution for XenForo 2 that allows to create unlimited completely customized communities on a single XenForo installation.
Product allows to customize almost any aspect of XenForo for unlimited domains and subdomains.
Unfortunately it's the only addon I'm aware of that allows sharing the same database for different URLs

IMO,

Park .fr on the .com and send it to the french lang pack via style
eg, site.fr -> site.com/style=french

run with the .com only.

or, vice versa is .fr is more common for your locale. Park the .com on the .fr 'real' domain and direct .com to .fr/style=english
