Could it be useful to remove the dates for awhile?

When you're just starting a forum, and some of the posts are very old, would it help to hide the post date? On all posts.

Maybe turn them on later when you have plenty of members who post regularly. But until then, no post or thread has a date associated with it. That the user can see, anyway.

Good idea, or bad idea?

If Google is not seeing new content then they aren't going to be re-indexing old or new content very often for your site. So hiding or removing dates will likely have little to no benefit to you and visitors will find it odd also. Anyone slightly familiar with a forum will know right away something is up if dates are not posted everywhere.

Spend your time updating threads with new posts/content or creating new threads/content. This is where all the search engine rankings and benefits will eventually come from. Don't worry about the old stuff, concentrate on getting and producing the new.
