XF 1.5 content displays <br/><br/> instead of new lines

I am trying to post some stories in the forum, it displays <br/><br/> for new lines, sometimes <span> or something else are displayed. I installed parseHTML add-on too.
Please guide me to resolve this issue.

How are you entering the post content?

Are you typing it in manually or copying and pasting it from another source?

I suspect then that the formatting tags are in the source content when you paste it into a post.

You would have to remove it from there, use some other method of copying and pasting to ensure the tags are not present, or manually edit it out.
