Flash forward to now, and my return here, I hooked up with XF and snagged a cloud instance.
My domain has transferred to Cloudflare for ten bucks a year, and using their resolver, and what I ended up with is an instance that is lightning fast, secured traffic via cloudflare, and so much less backend maintenance.
So yes, I tip my hat to the chef that made this possible.
