XF 2.1 Closing the smiley/emoji editor menu after click?

The number one complaint we have from our members is that the smiley/emoji menu stays open after an emoji is inserted (clicking outside of the emoji menu makes it go away). How can I make the emoji menu collapse once an emoji is inserted?
