XF 2.2 Category Icons confusion

In the images below, your forum is on the left and mine is on the right. I would like to turn individual icons on my website into different icons akin to how you have it on your forum. I found some code: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/changing-picture-on-categories-from-speech-bubbles.186634/ In this thread, but I cannot get it to work with different icons for different categories.

It says something about Node Id's but I cannot find those in the node list.

What I need to know:

• How do I edit the code found in that thread to get what I want?
• Where do I find the node ID of category forums and forum forums? If this does not exist, are there other solutions so I can have different icons for each subforum?

The icons are automatically applied based on the node type.

The Announcements icon is an article forum.

Frequently asked questions is a link (to a thread).

Pre-sales questions is a question forum type.

Suggestions is a suggestion forum type.

The forum types are set per node in the node settings.

I think I used a bad example. I indeed want completely custom icons for each node.

Though, a way to remove them altogether would be amenable as well.
